An Interview With The Waco Praying Man by Brett

The other day I was fortunate enough to run into the infamous Waco Praying man, also known as Virgil Lee Bell.  He is often seen on the bridge over the 77 freeway, between Common Grounds and South 8^th Street. He is usually wearing a robe and holding a wooden stave. He drew a lot of attention from passing motorists; they honked their horns as they passed under him. I asked Virgil if he would be interested in being interviewed for Bohemia and he was more than happy to talk with me. We sat down in the grassy space near Common Grounds. The conversation started off normal enough but soon took an interesting turn.

Brett: Okay, so how long have you been doing this? The praying on the bridge thing I mean?

Virgil : About six years, 3 years in Waco.

Where were you before you came to Waco?

I went to college at Paul Quinn in 1975. Before it [Paul Quinn] moved Dallas.

So what did you do after college? After 1976?  What happened between your years in college and now?

Well, I found Jesus and was saved. I started praying and witnessing different churches. I’ve never had too many jobs in my life time. I got married. I separated from my wife later. Moved away and was practicing ministry for five years. I moved back to Waco, did more ministry work. Homelessness fell upon me. God sent me to live on the streets as an apostle to live the life of a homeless person for ten to twelve years.

Okay, what motivated you to start praying on the bridge? Why do you pray? What would you say it is you do exactly?

God motivated me. I pray for the city and the entire world. I met some Baylor students and I prayed for them. I pray for people of all races. All races that are Christian.

Alright, when was the first time you prayed on the bridge?

I’m guessing about two years ago. I pray all over Waco. The police station, the courthouse, the US Marshal Building. Sometimes I lie on the ground and pray for two hours. Sometimes I pray in the rough side of town, East Waco. Sometimes I walk or take to the bus to Wal-Mart or HEB, sometimes downtown. I pray on this grass. I try to find any spot I can so people can see me everywhere.

Why do you pray?

Well, this may shock you but I did some research and I found out that the government has been working with secret societies to decrease the population of some of the people, blacks and Mexican Spanish whites and other races to make everything look like natural causes. I protested this for a while with signs. I put people’s names on them. Then after a while I started praying more for the city.

Wait, what did you say about decreasing populations and the government?

Yes, well, the government is trying to decrease the populations of the people you see. I have the numbers of many FBI agents in my pockets.

Virgil opens his wallet and shows me three loose pieces of notebook paper filled with names and phone numbers.

It’s kind of complicated; I can send you my newsletter if you are interested.

Oh okay. We still have plenty of time; can you explain it to me right now? What has led you to these conclusions?

Oh sure, well, they use doctors and radiation.   My wife used to have cancer ten years ago. She went through a lot of chemotherapy and radiation. God could have cured her instantly. My wife saw in the radiation how it went into many people’s houses. The government sends the radiation into people’s houses. They know how to make it so doctors say that you are in pain because you work out too hard, or are in the sun too long it is really the radiation. They make it seem natural. Excuse me for saying this but they also have technology that can cause car crashes from space. They have different satellites to hypnotize men and women. When the police catch these people they say “something came over them” or they can’t explain how they acted. “Something made me kill my mama or rape that child!” “It wasn’t me!” I have the numbers of many FBI agents. I had to share this information with them. I prayed for them.

Okay, so did all of this happen before you came to the bridge?

Yes, before this they put a tap on my phone because I was calling too much. They started jamming my phones through their satellites. I called every FBI agent all over Texas and all of the states. After I called all of the FBI they shut down my telephone. Then I got a cellphone but they shut that one off too. Then I got another cell phone and God said I didn’t need to call anymore.  Now I call the chief of police and share this information with him. I share it with the Marshal, Baylor students, churches and other people on the streets. I keep on prayin’. God said he won’t let them kill us; he may make us take basic training. I have many news letters in my house explaining how they use the satellites to make your house look haunted or hypnotize men to commit crimes.. I’ve talked to many people from churches and they know this. People know me because of my newsletters.

How do I subscribe to your newsletter?

Come to my house. I have many there, many newsletters exposing the truth.

Do I need to go to your house? Can I pick one up somewhere?

No, I can’t do that. My wife types them at school. I hand them out to people.

Okay, any other information we should know about?

Well, it is the white elite KKK and white supremacists who are controlling the government. They only want one race. They put my information in the 10^th grade textbooks in Waco. I put their names in there and a lot of KKK and white supremacists have not changed. The FBI and law enforcement told me to take the signs out of my house but once they read the signs they saw that I was looking out for them too. The police saw how the satellites affected criminals, the police learned from my information. I am well known all over Texas. I know powerful things. I can tell you many things if only you would come read one of my newsletters.

Okay, I’ll think about it. What is your address?

So, all of this was a calling from God? God told you that the government is run by white supremacists that make people sick with radiation and control people with satellites?

Yes Yes, there are also special planets.

Special planets?

Yes planets. Other people who were former KKK spoke to me and my wife about the planets. God saved them. There are many planets with life on them. In the Houston and Dallas newspaper they said there are many planets with active life on it.

So do you believe in aliens?

Yes but they don’t want people to know about them. I know about them, I tell people and now they know.

How do you know all of this? How can you be 100% sure?

Because a lot of this is controlled; we are puppets who are controlled by the satellites in the air and underground. There are the tunnels underneath Baylor.

Tunnels underneath Baylor?

Yes, the white supremacists and the KKK, the elite live in them. Not the normal KKK or white supremacists though.  The elite KKK do not trust the lower class whites. The wealthy elite destroy the poorer KKK to throw us off their track so we won’t suspect them. You see, they kill the poor. The elite need to keep themselves covered. Keep this one a secret my brother, in one ear and out the other.

What?

They might be white, Chinese, Asians or another race. With the satellites they have on other planets they can control earthquakes and weather.

So the planets can manipulate the weather on earth now?

Yeah, Yeah

Uh, Okay. Who lives on these planets?

The experiments live on the planets. Let me give you an example. On one of the planets they created every disease and the pills to cure the disease. Have you ever seen a man with 7 fingers? Or a 2 headed baby? Or a midget? They manipulate the genes of something small and a man to create midgets. They created a disease to turn men gay.

Wait, what? Are you saying that homosexuality is caused by genetic manipulation by white supremacist doctors? And they create diseases on other planets?

Yes sir, exactly. They know because they experiment. This is getting kind of deep you know. The first gene and DNA manipulation was the black race. Later on the white races came and overpowered them and took over. Excuse me for saying this and they took over with their hatred and hypnotized us to be the worst race on the face of the earth.

Huh?

They can instantly hypnotize us my brother. Car wrecks! Spacing out! Thoughts, feelings and emotions can all be controlled by the satellites. They can kill you in a car crash.

Okay, one last thing. Who lives on the planets? I want to know.

On some planets there is only men and the man have sex. On another planet it is all women. On the other planets there are clones and experiments. Earth is the only place of color. They say before December 2012 they want to have the population killed like never before. Don’t you see how the population is being killed?

Well, no.

They can produce earthquakes and tsunamis and hurricanes. They made the tornado in 1953! The tornado came because it followed a black man. I am not pregidous. I am my brother and sister’s keeper. Would they let a crazy man do what I’m doing? Do you think I’m crazy?

You aren’t hurting anybody.

Haha, I was in a crazy house for a while but they let me out after some time. The police man made them leave me alone. The chief of police personally excused me. I pray for them. The law enforcement welcome me, I am all over the Baylor lariat. They all say I bring peace to the city. I’m not a liar. I live for God. The gangsters recognize me; they see me as bringing peace.

Alright, I think we’ll end the interview here. Thanks for your time. You seem like a good person, I don’t agree with some of the things you say but you seem like a good person.

No, I don’t watch much T.V.

Huh, I see. Well God has a plan for everyone. Look me up on YouTube and the Baylor lariat and remember this, let everything I told you go in one ear and out the other.

One thing I found interesting about this man is that he has been known in Waco for some time and has been the subject of many articles and interviewers.

This looks like an interview done by a  Baylor student in 2001. It’s a very extensive interview but she never mentions anything about Virgil’s opinions on aliens or the KKK.

Here is the one from the Baylor lariat. This reporter either didn’t ask enough questions or decided not to write about Virgil’s conspiracy theories.

An article from the Waco Trib, I bought a  one day subscription to the Waco Trib website to read this. There is no mention of Virgil’s theories here either.

An  interview by some MCC students,  .

Despite Virgil’s shaky grasp on reality he seemed like a genuinely nice and friendly person to me. I don’t think his opinions are the result of a malicious personality. From my short interview  with Virgil I have concluded that he may be slightly  schizophrenic and I can’t fault him for that, we all have our quirks.
