As many of you know, AMC has recently launched its annual Fearfest ( Oct. 16-Oct. 31). Upon the realization that some of us Bohemians out there are horror fans, yours truly decided to create Bohemia’s own Fear Fest. Each year (hopefully), this blog will host horror-oriented short films. Perhaps you’ll see a future icon of horror or quite possibly the next big horror movie franchise. Now, let’s present this year’s entries.
DISCLAIMER: The following films are rated BH-13 (PG-13 or TV-14) for mild dialogue, scary situations, and horror violence. Not appropriate for Bohemians under 13.
- “The Killing Joke” by Sebastian Lopez : Curiosity kills the cat when a young woman stumbles upon a red balloon tied to a tiny box. According to its director, the film is a throwback to the horror movies of the ’70s.
- “Red Balloon” by Alexis Wajsbrot & Damien Mace : This critically-acclaimed 2010 thriller short film centers on a reluctant babysitter who finds out about her client’s dark past. Just think of the film as the European version to the classic horror film “When A Stranger Calls”.
- “First Taste” by F.C. Rabbath : The creepy neighbors across the street reveal what they truly are to three unsuspecting people in this “Masters of Horror”-esque story.
