The highly-anticipated Captain America : The First Avenger premieres this weekend! We here at Bohemia would like to celebrate the patriotic super-hero’s film debut with some Captain America inspired art.
Captain America was created by comicbook legends Joe Simon & Jack Kirby for Marvel Comics’ 1940s predecessor Timely Comics. As the story goes, Steve Rogers, a scrawny kid from New York , made many attempts to enlist in the military. Rogers was denied due to his appearance. His big break would happen in the form of the “super soldier program” which enhanced his physical abilities greatly.
The character is as iconic as Superman, DC Comics’ flagship character. He’s been presented in a wide variety of media such as the 1970 made-for-T.V. CBS films, a notorious 1990 direct-to-video film featuring an Italian Red Skull, & the animated series The Avengers : Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in 2010. It’s fitting that Captain America is also presented in the world of art. Here are some artists’ rendering of The First Avenger.
